Rent a maternity photo shoot location in Washington, DC

Maternity photoshoots are a chance for mothers to celebrate motherhood and new life before the child even comes to greet us! They capture every phase of motherhood, including the bump before the baby. A maternity session is generally shot in clothes that showcase the curves of the new mother, like colorful maternity gowns. Yet the location is just as important for the final images.

Many maternity photographers work indoors where wind can't mess up your hair and rain won't ruin a day's outing. A maternity studio will have backdrops to create the right environment, along with ideal lighting, comfortable chairs, makeup stations, changing rooms, and more. Photography studios, artist's lofts, and creative spaces in DC are where most maternity photographers prefer working. The photographer will be in full control of the space and you'll feel more comfortable in an intimate space with no onlookers. One of our favorite local destinations is the C&O Canal in Georgetown, DC. Stone walls, brightly painted buildings, canal-spanning bridges, and gentle waters make it a delightful spot for an outdoor maternity photoshoot. You'll also find beautiful directional lighting as the sun is rising or setting.
The National Mall has several spots to consider, including the Lincoln memorial, the Capitol Building, and Reflection Pool. Each of these venues is instantly recognizable and creates the perfect scenic backdrop for any sort of portraiture, including maternity photography. On the other hand, the National Arboretum and Meadowlark Botanical Gardens usually have fewer crowds and are both oases of green space in the urban landscape of Washington, D.C. Rose beds are a classic place to hold wedding photoshoots and maternity sessions. Consider the Bon Air Park Rose Garden in nearby Arlington, VA as well.
