You will find recital halls inside high schools, universities, and other educational institutions. Recitals are the right format for a high school chorus or music club performance since they aren't so large and don't need as many professional amenities as a concert. Since schools don't have recitals happening several times per week, they have recital halls just waiting to be reserved. Non-educational institutions capable of hosting a performance include hotels, event centers, and other businesses with spacious rooms that can be transformed into a recital hall with a stage, microphones, and enough chairs.
Check out the Abramson Family Recital Hall at American University Washington. With seating for up to 213 guests, it's the perfect space for intimate performances, with film screening rooms,
lecture venues, and other event spaces. Levine Music is another DC educational institution with a professional recital space. It boasts six campuses in the DC area, including their Lang Recital Hall, a 2,150-sq.-ft. space with room for up to 160 seated guests. You can also select from their 400-sq.-ft. Kunen Theater or one of their classroom spaces for soloists and other small-scale shows.
