19 Unique Indoor Activities In Nashville To Try Next Time It Rains

Best known for its historic and contemporary country music scene, anyone who’s living in or visiting the amazing city of Nashville, Tennessee knows that the city has tons to do both indoors and out! But when the weather turns rainy and gray, you might still feel frustrated by the limitations it creates for your plans to enjoy the city. To help ease your disappointment and ensure you have a blast no matter the weather, here are our picks for the top 19 unique indoor activities in Nashville to check out the next time it rains—including but not limited to visiting amazing music venues, both famous and lesser known.

1. Take a tour and buy a poster at the historic Hatch Show Print

As a working letterpress print shop since 1879, Hatch Show Print has a collection of vintage type and hand-carved imagery that they still use to print posters today! In addition to its status as a print shop, it’s also part of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, so it functions as a working museum that educates visitors on the history of printing.

2. Educate yourself on the history of transport at the Lane Motor Museum

Home to the largest collection of European cars and motorcycles in the United States, the Lane Motor Museum displays hundreds of rare vehicles inside a massive former bread factory. Fascinatingly, the vast majority of the vehicles are still functional and get tested regularly! This is by far one of the coolest indoor activities in Nashville.

We’re only suggesting that you look for a good excuse for a party because it’s fun and can help inspire your event’s theme. In actuality, you can throw a party anytime you want and we’ll bet your friends will appreciate it! But if you do like the idea of a random party theme on a rainy day, check out this list of bizarre national holidays to get started. Whether you’re more excited about National Two Different Colored Shoes Day on May 3rd, National Middle Name Pride Day on March 8th, or National “Hurray for Buttons” Day on May 9th, there’s pretty much always one of these random holidays coming up, regardless of when you might be planning your party. (You could also just go with the straightforward “rainy day” theme if that’s more appealing.)

As for the location, we can help with that, too! There are all kinds of reasons that you might not want to use—or might not be able to use—your own home as the party venue, whether it’s because it’s too small for the group you’d like to invite or your roommates haven’t agreed to the event. If this is the case, there are tons of great Nashville party venues and other event spaces on Peerspace. (To be more specific, there are more than 150 party spaces to choose from in and around Nashville that you can quickly and easily rent through Peerspace.)

Not sure where to begin? Here are some inspiring examples of the kinds of spaces we’re talking about:

  • This classic party hall and event space contains roughly 1,500 square feet and can accommodate up to 40 guests at a time, so it’s a great choice if you’re planning a larger spontaneous party. The hosts provide music, lighting, chairs, and tables, and happy reviewers agree that the space is an impeccable choice for events.
  • This industrial event space with floor-to-ceiling windows and a kitchenette is known as Collective 615. It’s ideal if you’re planning a larger party with up to 70 guests—especially if you’re going for a classy, industrial chic vibe. In addition to the beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows that allow in tons of natural light, this restored factory space has tons of historic charm with concrete floors and exposed brick walls. It also happens to be conveniently located only five minutes west of downtown Nashville.
  • This glass house with beautiful plants is a totally different style of space than our first two examples. It’s an incredible find for a super intimate gathering with up to six people (such as a spontaneous rainy day dinner party). It has a small chandelier and string lights for a warm, soft ambiance and a cast iron stove to heat the space when it’s cold out.
  • This centrally located, stately private home in Green Hills is a great choice if you were hoping to host the party in your own home but can’t. It’s on an acre of lush landscaped grounds, and the six-bedroom home itself boasts a combination of modern updates and refined Southern influences, including high ceilings, a cozy sunroom, and formal dining and living rooms.

Ready to get to searching Peerspace for yourself? A quick tip to save yourself lots of time and energy: make sure to filter your search results based on the criteria that are your biggest venue priorities. These might include the hourly rental price, the estimated number of attendees, the date and time you’re planning your event, and lots more. By limiting your search results to spaces that actually meet your specific event needs and preferences, you’ll make your browsing experience that much more streamlined (and enjoyable, we might add)!
