Now that New Year’s Eve is right around the corner, it’s time to come up with some party games to keep the fun going all night long! From active games to tests of trivia, Peerspace’s festive New Year’s Eve party games include something for everyone to enjoy! Check out our favorite games and let us know which ones will be a part of your next end-of-year party.
1. Get rowdy with a New Year’s Eve Balloon Stomp
Balloon Stomp is a great game for groups of any size. Blow up some New Year’s Eve colored balloons (gold, black, and silver) to tie to everyone’s ankles. They then have to stomp other people’s balloons without losing their own balloon. The last person standing with a balloon still unpopped wins!
2. Turn out the lights for Glow-in-the-Dark Ring Toss

Ring toss is a game that everyone knows how to play. So no need to spend time explaining; but feel free to add a twist with a glow-in-the-dark ring toss set. Have a New Year’s Eve party hat or glowing pole to use as the target and let fly with glowing rings!
If you’re going to have a glow-in-the-dark party, then pick a venue that already has blacklights installed. Peerspace has incredible New Year’s Eve party venues like this downtown bar and event space in New York, NY, with 3 floors that each feature their own theme!
3. Play “Who Made This Resolution?”
Here is a New Year’s Eve party game that’s ideal for families and friends; people who know each other well. Have everyone write a resolution to submit to a large jar. Someone then takes the resolutions and reads them, one by one. Everyone then writes down their answers as to who made each resolution. See who knows everyone else the best with the most right answers!
4. Play a few rounds of Loaded Questions
“Loaded Questions” is a great adult card game that will bring out the funny and creative side in all of your friends. The basic rules are simple: someone asks one of the questions from the card deck and everyone has to answer. The person asking then chooses their favorite and then tries to match the answer to the person. If they succeed at matching the answer to the person the questioner gets a point card. And the winner of the best answer gets a point card, regardless!
5. Act your best with New Year’s Eve Charades
This Charades version is really going to test your talents. Prepare by placing some strips of paper with the names of notable events and figures from the previous year inside some colored balloons. Blow up the balloons and split them into multiple teams. People have to pop the balloons, read the strips, and act out the answers for people to guess, just like regular Charades! Or you could use general New Year’s Eve ideas like “Kissing at Midnight” instead of pop culture references from the previous year.
6. Play some New Year’s Eve Trivia
Trivia can be worked into any sort of party, including a New Year’s Eve event. All you need are some printable thematic trivia cards, like these from Play Party Plan. Dive into pop culture, sports, history, and other topics for a great time!
7. Test your skill with a Champagne Flute Race
Don’t worry, you won’t be running around during this New Year’s Eve party game! Everyone has a champagne flute and will be sitting around a big bowl of the bubbly stuff. You have to race to fill your flute using only a teaspoon. The first to fill their flute taps their glass with their teaspoon. And maybe give a toast as well before everyone drinks!

8. Be quick with Tick-Tock-Tic-Tacs
Are you a fan of minute-to-win-it games? Then check out this 60-second New Year’s Eve party game. Each person gets two plates, one filled with Tic-Tacs. They have 60 seconds to move as many Tic-Tacs as possible from one plate to the other using only tweezers. It’s a lot more challenging than you’d think!
9. Party and take pictures with an NYE Selfie Scavenger Hunt
We love challenge games because you can have them running alongside any other activities you have planned for the party. For example, these New Year’s Eve selfie scavenger hunt cards give folks challenges to take on throughout the night. To play, take a selfie to document each challenge before sharing the photos on an online photo album for everyone to enjoy!
10. Play some Truth or Dare using scratch-off Dare cards
Truth or Dare is a party staple but we can make it even more fun by using some classy New Year’s Eve-themed scratch-off cards. Don’t feel like taking on a dare? Take a drink or answer a Truth question from the host or other dare-giver!
11. Go blindfolded and try to Pin the Nose on the Snowman
Pin the Tail on the Donkey is a classic game with infinite holiday variations. For New Year’s Eve, what could be better than a round on “Pin the Nose on the Snowman?” All you need are some carrot noses with everyone’s name to keep score, a snowman cutout, and a blindfold.
12. Break the ice with “Two Resolutions And A Lie”
“Two Resolutions and a Lie” is a great way for folks to get to know each other as the party is kicking off! Either form a group with everyone or break them up into multiple groups. Each person has to share two actual New Year’s Eve resolutions – along with a fake one. People then try to figure out which is which.
13. Search the venue and Collect The Kisses
You don’t have to wait until midnight to start collecting New Year’s Eve kisses! Hide Hershey’s Kisses everywhere well before the party starts. Give everyone a small bag and see who can collect the most kisses by the end of the party.
14. Buy some cloth snowballs for an indoor snowball fight
Snowball fights are a lot of fun but you don’t want to get your party venue messy. So how about using some socks or cloth “snowballs” instead? You can place buckets of them around the venue so people can have a free-for-all without the mess.
Add some pizazz to your party venue when you use these festive New Year’s Eve decoration ideas!
15. Pick up a disco ball pinata for guests to smash
New Year’s Eve decorations tend to be glitzy and colored silver, gold, or black. A pinata decorated to match the theme would make a wonderful addition to the party! Fill it with a mixture of candy and adult prizes like cash or gift cards and let everyone take a turn smacking the pinata around.
16. Ring in the New Year with Jingle Bells
“Ring in the New Year” is an awesome challenge that requires some luck and stealth to pull off. Everyone gets a small bag of jingle bells at the start of the evening. They have to get rid of as many as they can by hanging them on one more or clotheslines in the party space. But if someone sees or hears them, they not only have to take their bell back but one of the bells already on the line. The person with the fewest bells wins!
17. Get creative with New Year’s Mad Libs
See how goofy everyone can get by playing a few rounds of Mad Libs together! Instead of standard cards, use printable New Year’s Eve-themed cards like these!
18. Make some DIY New Year’s Eve bells
Don’t have any New Year’s Eve noisemakers on hand for your party guests? Make a DIY activity out of it by making some NYE bells together! All you need are the materials and instructions laid out here from Paging Supermom.
19. Play the Celebrity Name Game
The Name Game is a fun group game where everyone has to pay close attention to win! One person starts by naming a celebrity. The next person to go has to use the first letter of that celebrity’s last name as the first letter in their celebrity choice. It gets crazy quick, especially after a few drinks!
20. Make it a New Year’s Eve karaoke party

Do you love singing along with some awesome tunes? Rent a karaoke machine and sing your best (or worst) in front of the crowd! If you and your friends are really into karaoke then make it a bigger part of the party with a private karaoke room rental instead. Many of the party venues on Peerspace include karaoke machines, like this secret underground speakeasy bar and wine cellar in Los Angeles, CA.
21. Hum along to New Year’s Name That Tune
If you don’t want to sing your heart out, then do a little humming with Name That Tune! Each person simply hums part of a holiday tune for people to guess. They have 20 seconds or so to get it; the first person to get it right has to then hum their own tune. You could make it even sillier by including kazoos or harmonicas to play the tune instead of humming!
