The holiday season is ramping up as November approaches. But you don’t have to wait for Thanksgiving or other major holidays to bring people together. We at Peerspace have gathered a few of our favorite November party themes to base a special event around. From anniversary celebrations to dinner parties, each of these themes is creative, flexible, and fun!
1. Have a fall food board party
Bring the tastes of autumn together with a fall food board party! Roast squash, turkey cubes with cranberry dip, maple-glazed ham, and tiny cups of stuffing can easily be arranged on a food board. Like meat and cheese-based charcuterie, food boards are an artistic way of arranging several items at once without looking too chaotic. If you’re not sure where to begin, have a look at our ideas for Thanksgiving charcuterie food boards!
2. Host a Thanksgiving party
Thanksgiving is the major holiday celebrated in the US and Canada in November. It’s a theme you can obviously use during the holiday itself but you could also have a mini-Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving as well! A Thanksgiving-themed party might focus on leftovers from the dinner itself or include Thanksgiving-themed games.
A Thanksgiving-themed party is best held in a venue that can accommodate a larger guest list. Did you know that Peerspace has hundreds of Thanksgiving venues near you for dinner and games with your family and friends? This classic Chicago-style pub in the Windy City is one of our favorites for an unforgettable Thanksgiving party!
3. Vegan food day celebration
Did you know that November 1st is World Vegan Day? Gather your fellow plant eaters for a party with nothing but vegan options! And invite plenty of non-vegans as well so they can see what vegan food is all about. From vegan boneless wings to buddha bowls and homemade hummus, it’s never been easier to make a tasty vegan buffet!
4. Make jack-o-lanterns together
You don’t have to give up carving pumpkins now that Halloween is past. Make Jack-o-lanterns your November party theme! It’s an inexpensive yet delightful activity that you may not have engaged in since you were a kid!
5. Go apple picking at an orchard
Fall means it is time for the annual apple harvest. Why not harvest a few apples of your own for making pie and cider at home? Apple orchards in many states are open for harvesting from Labor Day until early November. They may even have apple varieties you can’t find at your local grocery store.
6. Dig deep in the closer for an ugly sweater
November means chilly weather, which means that it’s time to dig deep in the closet for an ugly sweater! Make sweaters the theme of your event with an ugly sweater party. That might mean one with Rudolph stitched right across the chest or a project from your youth with sequin stars spread across it!
These awesome ugly sweater party ideas take this theme and run with it. Check them out!
7. Get nostalgic with a Sesame Street Party
Did you know that November 10th is Sesame Street Day? Embrace the TV show of our youth by making Sesame Street the theme of the party! Sesame Street decorations are easy enough to find. See if anyone is willing to rent a costume and dress the part of Big Bird or Elmo!
8. Have a leaf rake-off
Raking leaves is a chore not a November party theme!…Or is it? Volunteers are often needed to help rake leaves in the yards of the elderly and disabled. You can spend an hour or two giving back to the community. Then head to a nearby cider bar or other party venue for a few drinks and snacks with the other caring community members!
9. Host a sweet candy party
Oh hey, National Candy Day is November 4th! What a great reason to bring some friends over for some sweet treats! Candy is something we all love. From chocolates to licorice, a candy-themed party has a lot of potential. Not to mention a Candyland party is a great theme to use with a baby shower or birthday party!
10. Head to a beer garden
Autumn is a wonderful time to enjoy a few drinks with friends at a biergarten! You can easily host a beer garden-themed November party with an outdoor venue through Peerspace. 11. Make it a teddy bear party
November is chock-full of bear-themed special days. First, we have November 7th, which is “National Hug-a-Bear Day.” Then there is National American Teddy Bear Day on November 14th. Hang up teddy bear-themed decorations, make a few dishes that look the part, and score a few bear costumes for the month of November!
12. Throw a dreamy princess party
Princess Day is November 18th. Why not let a daughter and her friends be princesses for the day with this November party theme? They can make and wear crowns with a craft station before enjoying tea and cake together!
13. Host a potluck dinner

Potluck dinners are a fun way to bring your friends together for a little indoor fun. Best of all, it takes a lot of pressure off of you to make dinner since everyone gets to contribute. You’ll enjoy recipes made by your friends you’ve never tasted and have far fewer dishes to wash afterwards.
14. Dress up for a TV show party
Here’s a fun November party theme if you want something costume-oriented! World Television Day is November 21st. With thousands of potential costumes to go with, every person who walks in the door will set off a round of guessing!
15. Decorate scarecrows together
Craft parties are one of the best ways to bring friends together for a bit of autumn fun! Why not decorate scarecrows? Start with straw-stuffed canvas sacks or socks, hay bales, pumpkins, buttons, and old clothes, and see what people make! If you have a yard or field on your property you can even set them up to spook passers-by!

17. Have a dinovember event
Dinovember is like Elf on the Shelf, where at night the kids’ dinosaur toys get up to mischief. But in the morning they’re frozen and unmoving! Children will love a dinosaur-themed party after a few days or weeks of Dinovember antics!
18. Throw a flannel party
Are ugly sweaters too tacky for your wardrobe? See if you can find some flannel instead! From long-sleeve shirts to flannel-printed gift wrap, this is a November party theme that’s a lot of fun to decorate for!

21. Have an early Christmas party

Why wait until the end of December when you can have a Christmas party a month early? Maybe your family and friends will all be traveling elsewhere in December…So get together, celebrate, and have a gift exchange in November with an early Christmas party!
