It can be a bit hard to pin down where the movie takes place. There aren’t many distinguishing landmarks or features that really say what town or state the story is in. However, according to the movie’s IMDB page, the production was done in and around central Florida near Ocala.

Part of what makes “Jeepers Creepers” different from other horror movies is that so much of it takes place on the road. Seeing this wide-open stretch of highway with nobody in sight is somewhat unsettling in itself. It’s also sure to make you ask the question: where was “Jeepers Creepers” filmed?

According to OtakuKart, this highway is called Tiger Trail and is located in Dunnellon, about 25 miles west of Ocala. Unfortunately, the stretch of road has its own tragic history; three children were killed at the intersection of Tiger Trail and a high school. Locals have claimed to see their ghosts standing there in the early morning.

Where did they film the church in “Jeepers Creepers”?

You may remember the main incident that sets off the terrifying pursuit of the siblings by the Creeper. Trish and Darry Jenner, played by Gina Phillips and Justin Long, witness the monster emptying what looks like bloody body bags into a drain pipe next to an old abandoned church. After realizing they have spotted him, he chases the two in his truck and runs them off the road.

The church itself is quite creepy and rundown. Seeing it might give you shivers but also make you ask the question: where was “Jeepers Creepers” filmed?

The church was located in Ocala and was known as the St. James Church, according to Then And Now Movie Locations. It had apparently been abandoned for quite some time before it was used in the movie and had mysteriously burned down a few years after. They mention a rumor that it was former New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner who could have done the deed. He was said to have owned a horse farm adjacent to the property and was not keen on all of the horror fans coming to visit it.

As for the drain pipe itself, that was shot both on a soundstage and at the church.

Now that we have seen a couple of the locations from the beginning of the movie let’s take a tour through some of the locations we see later on.

One of those locations is the diner that the siblings stop in and get a creepy phone call. According to Movie Locations, the diner was called Opper’s bar after one of the movie’s producers, Barry Opper, and what’s left of the building can be found in Rutland, Florida off of North Country Road 470. Another minor location that they mention is the Poho County Sheriff’s Office in the town of Reddick which is apparently their public library.

The last location for us to cover today is the abandoned factory, where we see what has become of Darry Jenner. The factory is the perfect spot for such a terrifying ending, and after you’re done having nightmares you’re probably stuck with the question: where was “Jeepers Creepers” filmed?

Apparently, this was an old abandoned meat packing facility named White’s Meat Packing and was located in north Ocala. Like some of the other movie locations, like the church, we’re sad to say that this no longer exists as well. So you won’t be able to visit it for yourself as the land has been redeveloped.
